Meter Readings
New-Mac Electric’s meter readings are reported each month by the meters themselves. New-Mac's system is equipped with Turtle® meters, which automatically supply readings to the co-op. Turtle® meters also notify New-Mac of an attempt to steal power.
Even though automatically read meters make monthly visits to each location unnecessary, New-Mac still needs access to each meter for perodic checks and outages. So, make sure the co-op can get to your meter, and all lock arrangements with New-Mac need to be maintained.
Meter Seals
If for any reason you must remove the seal on your meter, you will need to notify the office at such time. There are penalties for removing the seal without notification.
Power Diversion
Let us know if you find something amiss in your area. Remember, you pay for the electricity someone else steals.
No person except an employee of New-Mac shall alter, remove or make any connections to Cooperative's meters or service equipment.
No meter seal may be broken by anyone other than a New-Mac employee. However, when it is deemed necessary, the office may give its prior consent to seal breaking by an approved electrician employed by the member. Failure to do so may incur the following action.
- A $25 to $50 meter seal fine.
- Disconnection of service until restitution has been made.
In case of tampering with meter installation or interfering with the proper working thereof, any other theft of service by any person, or evidence of such tampering, interfering, theft or service diversion, by whomsoever done, the member shall be liable for immediate discontinuance of service until restitution has been rendered.
If you have any questions please contact the office.
